England

Our April 2018 ESL Fellowship event focused on England with Dr. Neil Summerton CB sharing his testimony on how he became a Christian in 1957 when God enlightened him about the way of salvation at a wholly secular gathering. We also learned about Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

Argentina

Argentina is a beautiful country with a lot of history. Come and hear first hand about Argentina and taste some delicious Argentinian cuisine.

China

Come join us as we celebrate Chinese New Year. We will be learning about China - its intriguing past and vibrant present. Practice your English as we discuss a bit of China's history and find out about Chinese New Year customs and traditions; and of course, enjoy a pot-luck of delicious good food!

South Korea

In just 65 years, Seoul has risen from the ashes of civil war to one of the most modern cities in the world. We will hear testimony by a Hillview brother from South Korea and learn about his homeland. Join us and expand your English in follow-up discussion and fellowship around a potluck dinner together.

The Philippines

The Philippines is a country rich in culture and traditions. Please join us in November as we take a closer look at this beautiful island nation and practice our English skills in small group discussions. We look forward to hearing a testimony from a dear Filipino sister while sharing a potluck dinner together.

Iraq

We learned about modern-day and ancient Iraq as we explored Abrahm leaving his home to follow God's call. English language learners and native speakers had the opportunity to hear about a recent visit to Iraq and engage in follow-up discussion.

Malaysia

Malaysian society is made up of Malay, Chinese, Indian, aboriginal and other minority races. Historically, Malaysia was a midpoint between China and India to trade spices, precious stones, ivory and other goods. Many of these traders settled in Malaya, resulting in a rich mix of cultures.

Nepal

We looked at Brian Dickinson's testimony of how God rescued him from the summit of Mount Everest. We talked about Sherpas and how we all need the Good Shepherd to guide us through life's journey. We also got to hear how the gospel is being spread to the Nepalese people and the cost that Christians bear to be witnesses of Christ.

Israel

We took a talking tour of where Jesus actually walked, taught and changed lives. We learned about His power to perform miracles and how He taught through stories, called parables. Together, we pondered the purpose of His miracles and discussed the lessons behind His parables.

Spain

Grant & Kandy Ferrer visited from the mission field in Spain to share about their experiences with rabbits, bull-fighting and the God-inspired effects of discovery groups. We also enjoyed conversational learning together about bullfighting, soccer, and retirement in Spain.
